Love to shop? Then subscribe to my RSS feed to be the first to find out what's hip and happenin' in the world of shopping. Thanks for visiting!
It seems we’re fast becoming a city of advertisements. I was at 1 Utama recently and noticed they’ve got ads now on the automatic sliding glass doors, elevator doors and the pillars all over the mall? Gah! Talk about an overkill.
But given that we’re heading towards a weakening economy, I guess businesses have to advertise all the more to get noticed and to stay in the running.
I’m sure that sort of advertising can’t be cheap. Compare that with online social media advertising at SocialSpark and I think they’ll really see the difference. That’s exactly what I mean, why don’t these businesses advertise online instead?
IZEA offers so many different advertising options and services to choose from. You could have a bunch of bloggers reviewing your business. Give them some free samples to try and they’ll be able to write an even better review
.
Or you could have your ad flashed on different sites whenever someone visits. As more people go online to make their purchases, you don’t have to worry that no one will see your ad.
So if you’re involved in advertising for your company, you should take a look at what IZEA has to offer. Sometimes you need to experiment with new and trendier ways of advertising, no?

Lately I’ve been shopping like a maniac. It’s not what you think. I’ve been hanging out at the grocery store instead of the Coach store, heheh. Reason being that we’ve decided to eat out less seeing as how prices are creeping up.
We are making good progress. I’m cooking school lunches every day and the kids are (surprise!) lovin’ it. It’s possible that I’m a darned good cook but didn’t know it
.
At any rate, I’ve discarded all loyalties to any grocery store. I’m looking to save money so the lowest bidder gets the sale, so to speak. I’m doing my homework online, comparing prices first before going out.
I shop wherever I happen to be at. No more making trips specially to my favorite stores. We’re all creatures of habit. If we like to shop there, we keep going back. No more! Now it’s whoever offers the best price wins.

I’m sure I don’t even have to mention how the prices of everything has been going up, up and away, and will continue to go that way with the recent increase in the price of gas.
The way I see it, you’ll save more by shopping online. On sites like Shogging, you can compare prices online without having to waste gas driving from store to store to get the best prices.
Just a few clicks and you’ll have a whole list of products and merchants to choose from. I don’t think it could get any easier than that. No hassles looking for a parking spot, no wasting time and gas and it’s all at your fingertips.

Face to face with yet another hefty fuel price hike, I’m sure the question on everyone’s mind right now is how to improve your petrol consumption and save money on petrol. The way I see it, the price of petrol can only increase, given that it is a limited natural resource. So we might as well figure out how to save money on petrol right here and now.
Here are a few things I’ve been doing since the last fuel price hike to improve on my petrol consumption and minimize my petrol bill:
(1) Pump petrol in the mornings or evenings when temperatures are cooler. The volume of petrol contracts in cooler temperatures which means you’re getting more per litre.
(2) Ensure that your car tyres are well-inflated. Tyre pressures differ for different cars so check your car’s recommended tyre pressure in either your owner’s manual or on the sticker that’s usually on the side of the driver’s seat. Under-inflated tyres will cause your car to consume more petrol. I normally get mine checked once a week or two.
(3) It’s time to lose weight. No, not you, silly, your car! Throw out all that unwanted stuff you’re carrying around in your car like those boxes of books you’ve been meaning to give away or that golf bag that’s there even when you’re not playing golf that day. The heavier your car, the more petrol it consumes. So clean it out.
(4) Don’t speed. Stick to driving below 100 kmph and you’ll be saving petrol. See, there’s good reason for your mom’s advice not to speed. Okay, if you must know, there’s this thing your car does that’s called ‘drag’ which drinks more petrol if you go above a certain speed. That’s all I can tell you in a nutshell because that’s all I know about ‘drag’
.
These are just a few tips to start you off with. I have a few more tricks under my sleeve on how to improve your car’s petrol consumption and help you save money on petrol in the process. So stick around.

This was one of the nighties featured in a fashion show at Fashion On 1 recently. Question is, since when did a nightie look this good? pray tell.

Heck, if you wore this to sleep, all the knights in shining armor would come riding in from the sunset in your dreams to transport you to Cinderella’s ball !
Nighties aren’t made for sleeping any more, are they? You could go shopping straight out of bed, without brushing your teeth, and no one would know. Just remember, speak to no one or else *pinches nose*!

I have no idea when women started wearing shirts but I’m so glad we did, otherwise we’d be missing out on a truly functional item of clothing. If you’re still thinking shirts belong in a guy’s wardrobe, it’s time you came out of the closet
and breathe in some fresh air.
Thing is shirts don’t have to make you look masculine. If you wear a plain shirt, you can always team it up with a skirt or some cute accessories to soften the look.
You can create casual chic look by wearing a shirt, unbuttoned, over a tank top if you want to hide those untoned arms.
This brown shirt here (below) is beautifully machine-embroidered. I love the color and slim cut.

The fashion shows are still going on at One Utama but we haven’t been going there. Midvalley Megamall’s Fashion Week is still on this week. The one at Suria, KLCC finished last weekend.
So many fashion shows, so little time.
Just imagine how exhausted I’d be if I’d been going to every single show in town. But I like the fact that no matter which mall you happen to be at, you can catch a glimpse of glamor.
The thing I’ve noticed is that the models seem to be getting skinnier. The poor things, sometimes I wonder what they eat, if they eat at all. I’m not sure clothes necessarily look better on skinny models though.
And my personal take on the matter is that not all clothes look equally good on everyone. We’re all constructed differently so we just have to be aware of what looks good on us and not get carried away with what looks good on someone else.

We saw a toddler out shopping with his parents the other day. The toddler was on a leash and I thought, yeah, it’s been a while since I saw one of those.
Regardless of what the older folks might say about treating your child like an animal, I think the leash is a great idea. I say, better an animal than to be kidnapped by one! It may not look good but it certainly works.
If you’re out in the weekend and holiday crowd, the leash ensures your child doesn’t wander too far from you and get lost. I don’t know about you but I’ve read enough stories in the papers to send shivers down my spine.

This next couple of weekends, the crowds are bound to be thicker than usual and there’ll be plenty of bargains, sales and activities to distract you.
Make sure you keep your kids with you or a familiar adult at all times while you’re out at the malls. Kids are naturally curious and taken with everything they see.
There’ll be lots of people around and it’s easy to get separated from your kids. So try to keep them close and not let them wander off on their own.
Do I sound a little paranoid here? If I do, it’s because we’ve been hearing too many incidents of unfortunate things happening to kids lately.
I just want to remind you that it’s important to keep your kids safe while you’re out having a great weekend. Don’t mind me, that’s just the mom in me talking

I try to do my grocery shopping on weekdays. It’s a load off my mind to just get it out of the way quickly so that I can have my weekends free to do whatever.
Doing groceries on a weekday less stressful because I don’t have to contend with the parking and checkout problems. Those are the good things.
The bad thing is some of the shelves are bare and waiting to be stocked out. I was shocked to find only a few cartons of milk at retail price on the shelves on a Tuesday. On the weekend, they are usually on promo and the shelves are bursting with choices.
What to do? I guess I’m inadvertently forced back to doing groceries on the weekend. The only way to avoid the traffic and the crowds is to go early on a weekend when those who work fulltime are still enjoying the only days they get to sleep in.
