down from a dozen shopping bags

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Love to shop? Then subscribe to my RSS feed to be the first to find out what's hip and happenin' in the world of shopping. Thanks for visiting!

Us shopperistas spent the entire day at Midvalley Megamall yesterday, a couple of us moms with our kids in tow. We haven’t been there for months so we thought we’d check out what’s new.

Nothing much actually. Just that there’s this tunnel joining Midvalley to the Gardens now that’s lined with little food shops. I guess as you head in that direction, the price tags go up until you finally end up on the shining floor of the Gardens.

The Isetan Sale is on but I’ve never been successful buying anything from there, unlike the one at Suria where I used to buy lots. We didn’t check out the other stores at the Gardens. Too upmarket for the likes of us. We’re looking for bargains in these days of rising gas and food prices.

My friend made an interesting observation though. She’s from out of town and she says the prices of clothing has gone up since her last visit. She should know. She used to end up with a dozen shopping bags whenever we went shopping. But yesterday, she ended up with only two small bags!

shopping on Black Friday just got better

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

You know, when I first heard about Black Friday, I thought wow, I’d love to get out there and get in line to shop till I drop. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and the official start of the Christmas shopping season, which means everything will be selling at way low, slashed down prices.

Yes, a shopperista’s dream come true, in other words. But on second thought, I can’t imagine driving out in the freezing cold just to get in line at 5 o’clock in the morning waiting for the stores to open.

Well, that’s what I thought before I found out about this online store called, quite aptly, Black-Friday.net, that requires no standing in line in the cold at 5 o’clock in the morning. How cool is that!

At Black-Friday.net, it’s as easy as signing up for an email alert to pop a note into your inbox telling you when new Black Friday ads are added to the site, so you can click over them to check them out.

All of my favorite stores are participating - Macy’s, Costco, Kohl’s, Old Navy - so I think I may just have all of my thanksgiving deals taken care of, thanks  .

Tangs sale or nothing @ Pavilion

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

“The Tangs sale or nothing” is on at the Pavilion from March 7 - 30, 2008. I haven’t been there yet but I fully intend to, probably next week. For me, the attraction is that it’s the one and only Tangs around so I’ll probably find something there that’s different than what I’m seeing repeatedly at franchise stores.

I’m not sure if there’re be anything left there now that the weekend crowd’s had their go at it. Probably there’ll only be odd sizes and colors when I get there. I hope not!! But I’m going to go anyways to see for myself.

looks like we bought the bookstore!

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

This has just been a super weekend for shopping. The girls and I went to the Pearson Book Sale twice this weekend. On the first day, we came home with 26 books.

booksOnce obviously wasn’t enough for us, we wanted more. So we went back again just to pick up a couple more books that we wish we’d bought on the first day but didn’t.

Well, guess what, we came back with 20 more books! Crazy as this may sound, we were paying like one-third the normal price of books.

So do you think we’re getting our money’s worth? I’d say so, yeah! See why we don’t buy any books at regular prices.

We save up and buy them like maybe once or twice a year at warehouse sales like this one.

missing the warehouse sales

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

I’m on the lookout for warehouse sales but there seem to be none at the moment. Well, there are but just not the ones I’m interested in. This is probably not the time of year for the ones I like ;) .

Lately I’ve noticed the prices of groceries going up, up and up. So that’s why I’m in a bargain hunting mood for warehouse sales where they offer substantial savings on stuff we use every day.

At these warehouse sales, I have to be careful because some of the edibles are close to expiring, and unless I think I can consume them all before they expire, I won’t buy.

With toiletries and non-edibles, however, the decisions are pretty easy. I just pick them up and drive home with a carload! And they actually do save me a bundle.

Kontera Control keeps both Kontera ads where they belong. Now controls Adsense too!
