Admittedly I have something of an OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). I have two bottles of hand sanitizers near me all the time - one in my car and the other in my tote bag  .

sanitizer-254x450 my trusty hand sanitizer

It was round about the time of the SARS outbreak (don’t ask me when that was, quite a few years ago, I think) that I had to rush out and buy my first bottle of hand sanitizers for the kids to take to school to wash their hands before recess.

I’ve been carrying a bottle of anti-septic handwash around with me ever since. To be honest, I do have a little problem with shopping cart handles which, as I read, are the dirtiest things ever.

Sure they look clean but apparently they’re home to all sorts of bacteria. Can you imagine if someone sneezed on it while shopping? Yikes. Okay, I know germs and bacteria are everywhere. Don’t even get me started on that  .

I was beginning to think I was wierd until I saw a lady fish her hand sanitizer from her handbag and proceeded to rub her hands together after her meal at a restaurant. So I’m not wierd after all.

A hand sanitizer is very convenient for when you travel considering it’s not always possible to find a convenient place to wash your hands. It’s rinse-free.

bye-bye magazines, hello myLifetime

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

I used to buy fashion magazines to browse while sitting in the daily traffic jams on the long commute home from work. I had a little ‘bookshelf’ of them in my front passenger seat.

I remember wishing I could surf the internet on my dashboard instead of flipping through the magazines  . I mean those magazines are expensive and they’re full of ads.

Now that I no longer commute, I can happily go read my magazines online. myLifetime is one of my favorite places to hang out. Well, it’s more than a magazine, it’s a community where I can talk to people and share my thoughts and ideas.

Of course, it’s got sections about beauty, style, health, entertainment, relationships and all of the other good stuff. When I’m itching to get creative, that’s where I get my craft ideas and inspiration too.

Go check them out. Then you won’t have to buy magazines any more.

first suspect - shampoo

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

I’m very attracted to colorful, fancy product packaging. That’s my weakness  and recently it got me into trouble.

I’ve been buying a hair shampoo that comes in a pink bottle with silvery accents. Nice bottle but the shampoo didn’t agree with me or my girls and we noticed our hair was starting to drop.

Initially we didn’t suspect the shampoo at all so we just kept on using it. When one bottle finished, we bought a new one of the same brand. Yep, it took us a while to even start suspecting it was the shampoo.

Finally I decided maybe the shampoo is too strong, so maybe we should go back to using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo to see if there’s any difference. Since Johnson’s is safe even for babies, it’s very mild.

And well, what a difference it makes! So before you go blaming your diet or stress, try switching to a milder shampoo and see it that’s the cause.

Kontera Control keeps both Kontera ads where they belong. Now controls Adsense too!
