I’m on the prowl for a bag… again. The shiny silver one I’m using now that I got from a sale three months ago is starting to show signs of going to pieces. So what sort of bag am I looking for?
A big roomy tote bag. Something really casual and simple. No big silver buckles, noisy prints or 101 pockets. And it’s got to be light and not weigh a ton even before I start putting in my lipstick.
The thing with big totes though is that they aren’t made for petite women. Women with small build tend to be overshadowed by the width and height of these bags. I’m not very tall but I’m tall enough to carry it off.

Do you still use plastic grocery bags? I sometimes do
. But it’s becoming a habit and I have a few reusable grocery bags sitting around in my car.
Most of them are solid-sided ones though which can be pretty bulky for squeezing into my handbag when not in use.
Look what I found! A mesh grocery bag that folds into almost nothing.
But don’t let its soft, flexi looks fool you. The handles are very sturdy and can handle quite a lot of weight without swaying from side to side.
Pretty neat, huh? Want one? You can find these as well as solid-sided eco-friendly grocery bags at Cozy Homewares.

This was one of the nighties featured in a fashion show at Fashion On 1 recently. Question is, since when did a nightie look this good? pray tell.

Heck, if you wore this to sleep, all the knights in shining armor would come riding in from the sunset in your dreams to transport you to Cinderella’s ball !
Nighties aren’t made for sleeping any more, are they? You could go shopping straight out of bed, without brushing your teeth, and no one would know. Just remember, speak to no one or else *pinches nose*!

I have no idea when women started wearing shirts but I’m so glad we did, otherwise we’d be missing out on a truly functional item of clothing. If you’re still thinking shirts belong in a guy’s wardrobe, it’s time you came out of the closet
and breathe in some fresh air.
Thing is shirts don’t have to make you look masculine. If you wear a plain shirt, you can always team it up with a skirt or some cute accessories to soften the look.
You can create casual chic look by wearing a shirt, unbuttoned, over a tank top if you want to hide those untoned arms.
This brown shirt here (below) is beautifully machine-embroidered. I love the color and slim cut.

The fashion shows are still going on at One Utama but we haven’t been going there. Midvalley Megamall’s Fashion Week is still on this week. The one at Suria, KLCC finished last weekend.
So many fashion shows, so little time.
Just imagine how exhausted I’d be if I’d been going to every single show in town. But I like the fact that no matter which mall you happen to be at, you can catch a glimpse of glamor.
The thing I’ve noticed is that the models seem to be getting skinnier. The poor things, sometimes I wonder what they eat, if they eat at all. I’m not sure clothes necessarily look better on skinny models though.
And my personal take on the matter is that not all clothes look equally good on everyone. We’re all constructed differently so we just have to be aware of what looks good on us and not get carried away with what looks good on someone else.

Wow, what an absolutely crazy week. The first two nights of Fashion On 1 seemed somewhat rushed to me. Seemed like it was over before it even began, what with the Fashion Gala starting late on opening night and models walking at 100mph on DKNY Jeans night.
But the return of the hourly fashion shows last weekend brought back some level of sanity to the pace of things. Although I only had one eye on the fashion shows (where was my other eye? find out at the end of this post), I did see some pretty interesting outfits
.
This yellow dazzler (below) from the French Connection was pretty neat. I like the rows of rhinestones (or whatever, didn’t get a close look) though the dress itself tends to make the wearer look slightly pregnant or fat. Not entirely flattering if you’re trying to show off your figure.

When Elle came on, it got me wondering if I should revamp my workout wardrobe. Nah, maybe not now since DH recently got me a heap of exercise gear from Japan. Love the color coordinates though.

As a sidenote, I noticed they’re using more Asian models this year. And I’ve been wondering (since last year, as a matter of fact), what’s with the way the models walk down the runway these days? I thought models were supposed to sashay, not strut like ostriches (no offense). Is this a new trend?
Right, back to the question of where my other eye was. Um, no, I wasn’t checking out the hunks ‘cos there were none… unfortunately (except for a couple of the male models who looked pretty cool). The truth is I can get pretty impatient and easily distracted.

I got my hands on the Fashion On 1 fashion extravaganza happening at 1 Utama from April 24 - May 4, 2008 and thought I’d post it here as you won’t find this on their website.
This event is to showcase the Spring/Summer collection of some of the familiar retailers around town. Here’s the schedule as is posted on their notice board.

We had a great time dropping in for the hourly fashion shows last year and I’m glad they’re following the same format this year.

Like I said, they seem to have three invitation-only events this year - the Fashion Gala on the opening night of April 24, the Malaysian DreamGirl event on April 29 and MODA’s Fashion Gateway which features local, up and coming designers (and models?) on April 30, 2008.
Well, though these are invitation-only, I’m pretty sure we can still watch the fashion shows from the balconies overlooking the Oval on the Lower Ground Floor. Hey, didn’t I say this before
?
Just a quick note so y’all know. I’m just sharing this information I found on my trip to 1 Utama last weekend. I’m not related to 1 Utama so please don’t hold me to any changes in the schedule.
And I’m not being paid for any of the posts I’ve done so far though it would be nice if they did or at least send me an invitation to those invitation-only events, eh
?

Woo-hoo, the stage is being set (literally) for Fashion on 1 at One Utama this week. I see that the construction crew is busy at work on the runway.

It looks like the runway is much narrower this year. Maybe they’re planning to have skinnier models who won’t take up as much space
.
Apparently they have 3 invitation-only events but not to worry, you can still go watch it from the balconies overlooking the Oval on the lower ground floor. You just don’t get to mingle over cocktails and sit comfortably alongside the runway, that’s all.
The event is from April 24 - May 4, 2008. Details later.

The week-long Stylo Fashion Festival, which ended last Friday, has got to be one of the biggest red carpet events of the year.

When I said ‘red carpet’, did you think I was joking? I can just see me strutting up that red carpet and pausing to pose for the photographers (ahem!)
.

The who’s who of high society and the celeb world were treated to a glitzy colorful display featuring fashions by upstart and up-and-coming designers.

An excitingly futuristic piece of headgear there for days when you’re offline but still want to feel “wired in” anyhow.
In a nutshell, it was an event of adjectives - strange I can’t think of any right now, but I’m sure you know what I mean
.

Now that I’ve commented on the worst dressed stars on the Red Carpet, I guess I have to balance it out with who I think are the three best dressed.
Again these are only the celebs I know and they’re in no particular order. By the way, these are also all the dressed I would wear myself (darn, I was sure I had the invite here somewhere! )

When in doubt, always choose black and keep it simple. You reckon that’s what Jennifer Garner was thinking while she was getting dressed for the party?
Not many women can carry off a fishtail gown well but this Oscar de la Renta silk taffeta gown really looks good on her.

Who would’ve know Jessica Alba is in her third semester? If that had been me, I’d be a walking oil drum, seriously
. This Marchesa gown flows beautifully and is a really sweet color.
She’s done a great job by not wearing a necklace because that would’ve stolen the limelight of that beautiful detailing on the bodice. And of course, the woman is blessed with good looks to book.

You need a slim body and a good height to carry this dress off because of the joint midway down the gown. And Penelope Cruz has certainly got both. A shorter person would’ve looked stumpy in this. Now all she needs to complete her look is to use a darker shade of lipstick so she wouldn’t look so deathly pale.
